Prolong the life of your tires

The majority of tires can usually last up to 80,000 miles, but they rarely do because of improper maintenance. Proper care can prolong the life of your tires, increase gas mileage and improve vehicle handling. It will also save you money in the long run and help reduce the number of tires being thrown to waste. In addition to taking proper care of your tires, here are some other things you can do in order to extend the life of your tires:

  • Avoid abrupt starts and stops.
  • They bring about unnecessary stress on your tires and cause rubber to wear off on road surfaces.
  • Don’t speed. Driving at high speeds causes heat to build up in the tire and burns rubber faster.
  • Steer clear of rough, unfinished or rocky roads and avoid potholes.
  • Driving on rough surfaces is hard on tires and wheel alignment.
  • Don’t take sharp curves or corners at a high rate of speed.
  • Tires can be damaged from slipping and skidding.
